THE Wedding Workshop!

I'm really pumped about this! I have many passions in my life - photography, traveling, just to name a couple - but more and more I'm finding that I really love teaching. I teach photography classes part-time at The Camera Company here in Madison, and I've found that to be very rewarding. But now I'm really excited to announce that I'll be teaching my first professional photography workshop with my good friend Pierre! We're teaming up to teach a phenomenal 2-day intensive workshop covering all aspects of wedding photography, but especially highlighting and contrasting our two very different styles and approaches. It's going to be very hands-on, with plenty of up-close and personal time with Pierre and I.
There are lots of photography workshops out there, but we wanted this one to be very different and we wanted to blow our students away with both the content and the experience, and I think we'll easily do that! We're going to have several models to shoot, we've got a limobus lined up to chauffeur everyone around town to different locations to shoot - just like a wedding day! - we'll be doing a dusk/nighttime shoot, a real trash the dress session, and after party on Saturday evening, and tons more. The classroom portion will happen at Brocach, which is right on the Capitol Square. Class will be held in their really great space upstairs that has plenty of tables and comfy chairs and couches, not to mention awesome food and drink!
If you're just starting out with photography and are thinking about shooting weddings, this will give you a ton of great information and hands-on experience shooting with other professionals. And if you're a more seasoned photographer, I promise you this workshop will leave you energized and motivated to push your skills and style to a new level.
It's going to be an awesome couple of days, and we're limiting it to 20 students, so sign up now! Here's a few of the details and a link to find more:

Snow Shoe Test Drive

If you don't already know, Val and I really enjoy the outdoors in the winter, winter camping especially. For Christmas I got her a pair of snowshoes, and my parents bought both of us really nice anoraks, which is like a oversized wind breaker. We're headed to the UP in a couple weeks to do some camping and shooting there for a few days with my dad and some other friends, so we thought we had better take our snowshoes for a test drive to make sure everything works like it should. We were going to go to a park or the arboretum or something, but with all the snow today all we needed to do was step outside and we found ourselves in four foot drifts of snow!
Hopefully we'll get out this weekend to an area park to put the tent and toboggan though it's paces. We'll keep you posted!
